The censure of exploring one’s self is always something that is up to debate by others. It is as almost women (in general) have to go through great lengths and depths to explore their identity. ‘Deep Blue Sea’ challenges women to go deeper into themselves. To bear whatever there is underneath the surface. What brings them pleasure or what is that they are drowning in.
Marilva uses oil and acrylic paint to create a bold and colorful piece. Color is for her a way to evoke and carry emotion through her painting.
